Dr. Stephen E. Clary is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has been practicing for more than 18 years. He is currently the Department Chief of Dental Services for Palmetto Health Baptist and Palmetto Health Richland Hospitals and the Co-Director for the South Carolina Academy of Advanced Implant Studies.
Dr. Clary obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Furman University in Greenville, SC and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He completed a one-year Advanced General Dentistry Residency at Ft. Campbell, KY and served a General Dentist in the US Army in Germany before attending his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. After completing his residency in 2006, Dr. Clary served as a Mentor to the AEGD prog
ram and the Chief of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ft. Jackson as well as the Executive Officer for the Dental Activity.
Dr. Clary was honored as one of the Top Oral Surgeons in America for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. He has been a featured speaker for many regional Dental Society Groups and served as a Board advisor to the Greater Columbia Dental Association. He has lectured to the US Army Medical and Dental Departments, the San Antonio Consortium of Health Sciences, the Greater Saint Louis Dental Society, and several continuing education groups in the Columbia Metro area.
He has three daughters and is married to his wife of 18 years. He is an Eagle Scout and Member of Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts of America. Dr. Clary is a member of the Catholic Archdiocese and supporter of Cardinal Newman and St. John Neumann Schools. He enjoys golf, cycling, tennis, boating and wakeboarding, snow skiing, and plays the drums.
