Dr. James W. Strider Jr. is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a Diplomat of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the American Association of Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Surgeons. He has been in practice for over 35 years.
Dr. Strider received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina in 1973 and his Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1977. He completed his four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Hospital Residency at William Beaumont Medical Center in El Paso, TX.
During his military career Dr. Strider served as Chief of multiple Army Oral Surgery services to include the Program Director and Chief of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program at Eisenhower Medical Center Ft. Gordon, GA. He is the recipient of the Alpha designator and the Military Order of Medical Merit which is the highest career distinction for any Doctor in the United States military. Dr. Strider is a recipient of the distinguished Legion of Merit for his military service and retired from the Army in the rank of Colonel.
Dr. Strider is an extensively published researcher and lecturer on all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is particularly interested in dental facial deformities of the face and jaw and is fully certified in cleft palate and cleft lip repair.
Dr. Strider is a devoted sports fan and South Carolina Gamecock and enjoys flying for which he holds multiple private aviation licenses and ratings.
