Jeffery Dootson, DMD
Meet Dr. Dootson
Dr. Jeffery Dootson attended University Of Tampa where he received his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics in 1975. He then served in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne Division where he was given the opportunity to return to school. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University Of Florida in 1980. Dr. Dootson served as a general dentist in the Army for 5 years in Indianapolis, IN, San Antonio, TX, and Seoul, Korea. He then went on to complete his oral surgery training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1989. Dr. Dootson served as Chief, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Fort Jackson, SC from 1989–1994. He also served in the first Iraq conflict as a member of the 312th Combat Evacuation Hospital for six months. Dr. Dootson left the Army in 1994 to pursue private practice.
Dr. Dootson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and has recertified his board credentials in 2002. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of South Carolina Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Greater Columbia Dental Society, Member Mid-Carolina Study Club, and co-founder and director of the South Carolina Academy of Advanced Implant Studies.
Dr. Dootson, his wife and family have lived in Northeast Columbia since 1989. His hobbies include being with family and friends, sporting events, golf, and home projects.
